Let’s take a closer look at a design element that often goes unnoticed but leaves a lasting impression. At Calgary’s Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton, the sleek and durable Banker Wire SJD-7 woven metal mesh is seamlessly integrated throughout the fitness and running track areas.

Designed by GGA-Architecture, nearly 4,000 square feet of Banker Wire’s SJD-7 woven wire mesh was incorporated into the facility’s interior, adding both function and visual appeal.

Used as railing infill and interior space dividers, SJD-7 offers a high percent open area—allowing for minimally interrupted views across the open-concept space, while still providing the necessary separation and safety. Its sleek, symmetrical design adds a modern, industrial edge to the expansive interior, echoing the dynamic energy of the facility.

Crafted from durable stainless steel, the mesh is not only visually clean and contemporary, but also resistant to corrosion, wear, and warping, making it ideal for the high-traffic, high-humidity environment of a recreation and wellness center like the Seton YMCA. It’s a material choice that doesn’t just look good, it performs over the long term.

Sometimes, the smallest details make the biggest difference. The use of Banker Wire’s SJD-7 elevates the space with subtle sophistication, proving that thoughtful material selection is key to timeless architectural design.
