Meadows Recreation Centre

The Meadows Community Recreation Centre is Edmonton’s premier recreation facility.  The over 20,000 square meter building includes a water park, public library, gym, two NHL sized ice sheets and many other amenities.

The building facade features a Polycon GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) panel rainscreen.  Polycon panels are a non-combustible concrete composite that are factory made to size.  Waste material is not shipped and panels do not need to be cut on site.

The panels on The Meadows were supplied in two textures, smooth and hydro-washed.  The hydro-washed panels allow the colours and textures of the sand to show through.  The surface of Polycon panels can also be formed with hundreds of patterns and structures such as wood, leaves, masonry, stone, geometric and many others.
